Kasauli

Kasauli is a small town situated in Himachal Pradesh and located at an altitude of about 1927 meter. Kasauli is a quint town that seems to exist in a time wrap of an era that reminds one of the 19th century. The town is 77 km from Shimla and 70 km from Chandigarh. Its colonial ambience is reinforced by cobbled paths, quaint shops, gabled houses with charming facades and scores of neat little gardens and orchards. Legend says that it came into existance after Lord Hanuman placed his feet here in order to advance on to the Sanjeevini Hill. The place where the lord kept his feet is believed to be at a hilllock which is 300 m high.
Kasauli is developed by British during the 'Hey Day' of the empire, and reached by the branch road  from the Kalka - Shimla road. It is one of those places that, despite its beauty still has yet to find itself prominentily on the tourist's map. Infact, it is very good for all those who yearn to spend some time alone with their family or, for that matter, even themselves.
The First ridge above Kalka rises abruptly to pineclad Kasauli at a height of 1927 meter and is joined by the 12 km bridle path. If you happen to visit the town during the off season (November to Feburary), it is quite likely that you will not come across any person for a long while on your walk.
